Privacy policy for Flutter apps (iOS and Android)

Yes, a Flutter app needs a privacy policy. Apple’s Guideline 5.1.1(i) requires a policy link in App Store Connect and inside the app, and Google Play requires one in the store listing and in the app. One accurate policy can cover both builds if it lists every plugin and SDK that collects data on either platform.

What Apple App Store requires

App Review Guideline 5.1.1(i) — Privacy Policies

“All apps must include a link to their privacy policy in the App Store Connect metadata field and within the app in an easily accessible manner.”

1.1Google Play: policy in the listing and in the app. Google Play’s User Data policy says your “privacy policy must clearly explain all data collection and sharing.” It must also sit on a public, non-geofenced URL (no PDFs), and be linked both in the store listing and inside the app. Source: support.google.com
1.2App Privacy answers include third-party code. Apple asks for “information about your app’s privacy practices, including the practices of third-party partners whose code you integrate into your app, in App Store Connect.” Your privacy policy and these answers should describe the same data. 1.3Open the link in-app with url_launcher. The official url_launcher plugin opens a URL from Flutter code with launchUrl(Uri.parse(...)). Put it behind a Settings or About entry so the policy is easy to reach, as Guideline 5.1.1(i) asks. Source: pub.dev

What common SDKs collect

Everything in this table must appear in your policy if the SDK ships in your build.

§ 3

Where to put the URL

  1. 3.1App Store Connect → your app → App Privacy → Privacy Policy URL.
  2. 3.2Play Console → Policy and programs → App content → Privacy policy.
  3. 3.3Inside the app: a Settings or About link that opens the same URL with url_launcher.
§ 4

Sample clause

§ 4.1 · Crash reports

Our app uses Firebase Crashlytics to receive crash reports. When the app crashes, Crashlytics sends a crash trace and installation identifiers to Google so we can fix bugs. We do not use crash data for advertising.

Illustrative wording. Your generated policy is written from your own answers.

Questions

Can one privacy policy cover my iOS and Android Flutter app?
Yes, if it accurately describes the data collected on both platforms, including every plugin and SDK. Use the same URL in App Store Connect and Play Console.
How do I open a privacy policy link in Flutter?
Add the url_launcher package and call launchUrl with your policy URL from a Settings or About screen.
Is there a Flutter-specific template?
No. PrivacyPage generates a general app policy; list your Flutter plugins and SDKs in the wizard.
